Semi Finals Recap By Commissioner Matt
Rattlers at Evil Round Eyes
The Western Division Champion Round Eyes matched up against Eastern Division runner up The Rattlers in the first Playoff game of the 2000 SCFFL season. The Round Eyes took a 2.2-point lead into Monday night action and came out with a blowout victory. Led by Daunte Culpepper (221yds passing, 3TD, 1 Rushing TD, 30.75 pts) and the always-dangerous Edgerrin James (132yds 3 TD, 31.2 pts), the Round Eyes cruised to 93.35 points, a 38-point victory, and a berth in the 2000 SCFFL Super Bowl. The Eyes were helped by 14 points from kicker Mike Hollis who booted 5 XP and 3 FG, and 8.7 points from WR Rod Smith. The Rattlers season came to an abrupt end Sunday, when they were only able to scratch together 55.2 points in their most important game of the season. After getting decent games from Kurt Warner (346 yds passing) and Jamal Lewis (130yds TD) the rest of the team let them down, totaling only 18.8 points. The biggest disappointment being TE Shannon Sharpe, who came up with just 1 catch for 7 yards and the Pittsburgh Defense, who provided a big fat 0!
FINAL SCORE Rattlers 55.2 Evil Round Eyes 97.05
Hit Men at S. Elgin Penetrators
The Eastern Division Champion Penetrators met the Western division runners up Hitmen in the days 2nd playoff match up. The Pens totaled a respectable 75.15 points, led by Aaron Brooks (203 yds passing, 2 TD and 108 yds rushing, 26.95 points), Terrell Owens (129 yds TD), and Tony Gonzalez (96 yds, TD). A huge disappointment for the Pens was the dismal 0 catch, 0 rush, 0 anything usefulness of WR Albert Connell. But the Penetrators have got to be kicking them selves in the balls over the start of Robert Smith, who was chosen to start over Marshall Faulk. Smith had only 67 total yds and no scores (6.7 points), While had he started, Faulk would have totaled 41.8 points (178 Yds and 4 TD), and given the victory and a berth in the 2000 Super Bowl.
The Hitmen, continued their Fairy Tail (yes, Fairy Tail, their lineup is ½ San Francisco!!) season, with a win on Sunday. After starting the season 0-4, they won 9 of their last 10 games to qualify for the post season. This week they got a great game from QB Jeff Garcia whose 305 yds and 2 TD through the air, combined with his 2 rushing TD, gave the Hitmen 37.45 points, 28.10 points on Eddie Georges 101 YD 3 TD day, and 10 points from Martin Grammatica sealed the 31.5-point victory.
FINAL SCORE Hit Men 101.65 Penetrators 75.15
